Recell brings Cellforce STaR plant to GETEC.PARK.EMMEN
Recell is strengthening its IP portfolio to stay at the forefront of clean-tech innovation. By accelerating the scale-up of its Cellforce technology, the company is turning cellulose waste and diverse feedstocks into high-quality sugars. These sugars enable more circular, low-carbon processes and advance Recell’s vision of an integrated ecosystem that delivers autonomy, sustainability, and profitability.
Cellforce is Recell’s proprietary bioprocess that converts cellulosic waste into high-quality sugars for use in sustainable chemicals.
Following successful validation projects in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, Recell has installed its 100-ton demonstration STaR plant at GETEC.PARK.EMMEN. The facility will be further optimized to process a wider range of waste streams. This offers partners a scalable solution to rising discharge costs and CO₂ emissions, while supporting compliance with evolving regulations.
After a comprehensive evaluation process, Recell selected GETEC.PARK.EMMEN as the location for its STaR plant, driven by its focus on circular industry and integrated energy infrastructure. As a multi-client industrial park, GETEC provides the location and shared utilities, enabling companies to scale from pilot and scale-up to full industrial operations. This allows companies to focus on their core activities while reducing their environmental footprint.
The park is supported by close cooperation with the municipality of Emmen, which plays an active role in enabling sustainable industrial development.
